Screw in the right sized tip, plug in and allow 3 - 4 minutes to heat up.
Place stones on a flat surface, a hard smooth heat proof surface like a plate.
Pick up the crystal with the tip. Wait a few seconds until the glue looks wet and bubbly. Then place the crystal with a gentle tap where you want it…..don’t leave the tip there too long and burn the material.
Nothing is ever made perfectly, and the crystals are average diameter, so if the tip won't pick up the crystal, you can place the crystal where you want it and then place the tip over the crystal.
The only thing you aren't doing is actually picking up the crystal to place it.
Allow a few seconds for the glue to melt and saturate the material. It will then be well and truly welded on. If the garment is double sided i.e. a legging or sleeve, don't forget to back the material with a cloth or paper otherwise the glue could seep through and join both sides of garment together.
TIPS
If a crystal gets stuck in the tip, place the tip where you want the crystal to come out on the garment, and take a pin or tweezers or needle and slip it in the slits on the sides of the tip. Wedge out the crystal, and then again, place the tip around it to re-heat the glue and stabilize the crystal again. (This would also be an indication that you need to clean the tip.) Also, don't really push the tip down hard on the crystal. That might wedge it into the tip too much and it won't release.
If you like to press down on the crystal after you have positioned it, wear a plaster on the pressing finger…the stones get hot!!!!
When using lots of different sized stones I like to stick to using a flat tip, place the stones where I want them and then touch the tops for a few seconds each stone until the glue melts. This saves me having to wait to change the tip all the time, depending which size of stone I am using.
